The Lake County Winegrape Commission seeks a bright and experienced accounting professional for its Office Manager position.

Established in 1991, the Lake County Winegrape Commission works on behalf of Lake County winegrape growers in the areas of marketing, research, and education. The Commission has been instrumental in developing the region’s unwavering commitment to farming high-quality winegrapes and is laser-focused on delivering professionally executed programs and events that assist growers and promote the region.

One of the most exciting appellations in California’s North Coast, Lake County has 9,500 acres of high-elevation vineyards producing winegrapes of high quality and phenolic complexity that have long garnered the respect of winemakers and are now attracting the attention of sommeliers and media.

The ideal candidate is an energetic and professional self-starter with solid bookkeeping experience who is incredibly organized and detail-oriented, has exceptional follow-through, knows what it takes to keep an office running seamlessly, and understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion.

This position reports directly to the Commission President and is located at the Commission office in Kelseyville, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting systems and prepare reports including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow projections, P&L, quarterly/year-end financials
  • Handle cash management, banking transactions, assessment collections, accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, payment processing
  • Maintain orderly, accurate, and up-to-date grower and vintner records, contact lists, and office files
  • Ensure confidential handling of all Commission records
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
  • Liaison to CPA for payroll processing
  • Responsible for posting of meeting agendas and preparation of meeting minutes
  • Maintain superior service delivery standards and efficiency through impeccable filing, archiving, and adherence to office policies and procedures
  • Handle inventory, procurement, and maintenance of all office equipment and supplies
  • Coordinate all office and event travel and other logistics
  • Assist event coordinator with setup and teardown for events, seminars, classes, and meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical functions and other duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, Commission bylaws, as well as relevant health and safety codes

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in business, accounting, or related field
  • At least three years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting
  • Solid computer skills including QuickBooks, MS Office Suite, database programs; accounting, budgeting, and financial systems and reporting; compliance standards, policies, procedures; computers and networking systems; supply management and inventory control
  • Previous experience in the wine industry preferred

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to lift and move cases of wine and other heavy items up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work during regular business hours Monday through Thursday (32 hours/week), plus occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Must be organized, productive, and eager to work as part of a small and effective team

Compensation:

Hourly wage commensurate with skills and experience
