Tasting Room Manager

Cinnabar is a boutique, family-owned winery that reveres winemaking as a form of modern-day alchemy—the blending of science with a touch of nature's magic. Rooted in the Santa Cruz Mountains at our lively Saratoga Tasting Room, we partner with local growers to coax the transformation of the finest California grapes into distinct and delightfully approachable wines.

We are seeking the ideal candidate for the position of Tasting Room Manager who will have experience managing teams focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences and a proven track record of achieving sales and financial goals. This position will report to the Owner/CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS
-Three or more years prior management experience in the hospitality industry with the proven ability to be an effective, innovative and enthusiastic leader

-Extensive experience in sales, with emphasis on direct-to-consumer marketing across mediums

-Proven organizational and analytical skills with proficiency in understanding and executing winery business plans

-Experience in coaching teams to success with an emphasis on achieving goals

-Passionate and preferably knowledgeable about wine

-Must be self-motivated and able to act independently to solve problems as they occur

-Strong ability to multi-task and balance responsibilities in the tasting room with administrative duties

-Financial management– experience tracking budget to actual performance against key tasting room metrics (visitor traffic, wine sales, wine club signups) and understanding of the interrelationship among those metrics

-Professional, warm and welcoming personal presentation
-Strong customer service focus

-Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

-Familiar with POS systems (preferably Vin65) and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

-Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis

-Must be able to work most weekends and some holidays


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all aspects of operating the tasting room, including but not limited to:

-Hands-on management of a small tasting room staff and interaction with winery guests

-Manage daily visitor appointments, inventory, staffing schedule and other functional tasks

-Develop innovative ways to drive sales and improve customer satisfaction

-Achieve tasting room goals including sales, new club members and taster traffic

- Manage Tasting Room expenses and annual budget for DTC portion of the business; monitor KPIs and overall financial performance of the Tasting Room, wine club, and online sales

-Work with Wine Club Manager to develop club offerings and identify opportunities to expand the club and improve membership retention

-Monitor Tasting Room marketing materials so that club offerings DTC marketing campaigns are properly represented and effectively promoted by Tasting Room staff

-Work with hospitality and industry peers to create successful referral programs

-Conduct employee sales and customer service training, one-on-one coaching, and ongoing wine education

-Conduct off-site pourings, tastings and other outreach events as needed
